How Jobworthy works.
What happens when you check a job, how it's scored, and the rules that stop us inventing anything. We publish this so you can judge the results for yourself.

1. Reading the posting
You can paste a posting's text, a link or screenshots. When a link points to an employer's own Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby or SmartRecruiters page, we read the posting from that hiring system directly, which also tells us whether it's still open. Before anything is read, hidden text and instructions aimed at AI screeners are stripped out and counted.
An AI model then pulls out the facts: title, company, location, remote or on-site, pay, languages, visa terms, and each requirement, split into must-haves and nice-to-haves.
2. The verdict
Your profile is weighed against the job on five dimensions, combined into a fit score from 0 to 100. Apply needs a score of 75 or more with at least 70% of the must-haves covered; Stretch needs 55. Any of your deal-breakers makes it Skip, whatever the score.
3. The ghost-job score
A separate score adds up signs that a posting is stale or not tied to a real opening, such as its age, whether it's still live at the source and missing pay where the law requires it. It shows you every signal behind the number.

4. Tailored applications: the claims ledger
When you ask for a tailored resume and cover letter, a first draft is written from your profile for that job. A second pass critiques it like a hiring manager would, and it's revised. Then fixed rules check every line:
- Every claim must cite facts from your profile.
- Every number in a claim must appear in a fact it cites. A “40% faster” that isn't in your profile doesn't get through.
- Your headline must be a title you've held or use, never an invented promotion.
- Skills the job asks for that you don't have are listed as gaps to talk about, never added.
- Anything that fails is removed and shown to you with the reason.
The finished PDF is then read back the way an applicant tracking system reads it, to check the text comes out cleanly. You can run the same check on any resume with our free ATS resume checker.
What AI does, and what rules do
AI models read postings, judge fit and draft documents. The decision thresholds, deal-breakers, ghost-job weights and the claims ledger are fixed rules in our code, and they're the ones published on these pages.
AI can still misread an unusual posting or misjudge a fit. That's why every verdict shows its reasoning and the evidence from your profile behind each matched requirement, and asks whether you agree. Your answers help us find where it goes wrong.
